Today, the largest and most powerful container truck in the province, equipped with the most advanced technology, "Xiangyuan No. 10," completed its 14-day inaugural voyage by carrying 180 containers from Shanghai back to Changsha Xia Ning Port. This marked a significant milestone in the region's logistics development. The new 3,000-ton, fourth-generation container ship, named "Xiangyuan No. 10," is capable of carrying 180 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) and was developed by Hunan Ocean Shipping Company. The vessel measures 87 meters in length and 13.4 meters in width, with a main engine power of 770 kilowatts. It represents a major advancement in inland river container transportation. Hunan Ocean Shipping Company has been at the forefront of container transport innovation since 1994. That year, it introduced the first generation of container fleets on the Xiangjiang River, breaking away from the traditional rail-based transportation system for import and export goods to Guangzhou. Over the years, the company has continuously improved its fleet, launching the second generation 36TEU mobile barges and the third generation 124TEU container ships. The newly launched 180TEU container ship offers high capacity, speed, and cost efficiency, making it a game-changer for regional trade. Its successful maiden voyage not only demonstrates the company’s technological capabilities but also confirms that the province's inland river container shipping industry has reached an advanced level comparable to national standards. With this new vessel, Hunan is now better positioned to support growing trade demands and enhance connectivity along the Yangtze River and beyond.
