Biodegradable plastic industrial park built in Henan

On August 28, a reporter learned from Henan Huadan Biodegradable Plastics Co., Ltd. that the first phase of its fully biodegradable plastics industrial park has been completed and is now operational in Xinmi City, Henan Province. This development marks a significant step forward for China's efforts to reduce its reliance on petroleum-based plastics. Experts believe that this project could play a key role in transforming the country's plastic industry into a more sustainable and environmentally friendly sector. The company plans to invest a total of 300 million yuan over the next five years to build a full-scale biodegradable plastics industrial park with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons. The project is divided into three phases, with the first phase already completed. It involved an investment of over 30 million yuan and will have an annual output of 50,000 tons. The first phase focuses on producing full-range biodegradable plastic granules and six types of fully degradable plastic products in batches. These granules are used for manufacturing various items such as industrial packaging films, shopping bags, garbage bags, and food containers. Henan Huadan Biodegradable Plastics Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise engaged in research, development, production, and sales. Since last year, the company has invested heavily in R&D, working with experts from domestic research institutes to develop new biodegradable plastic products. They use renewable resources like starch, polyvinyl alcohol, and glycerin as raw materials, creating completely biodegradable products. The entire production process generates no wastewater, waste gas, or solid waste. Once used, these products can be disposed of with regular household waste and are non-toxic, safe for the environment, and degrade quickly. Within 28 days, the degradation rate exceeds 66.6%. The National Plastic Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center has recognized the company’s technology and products as being at the forefront internationally, in terms of technical solutions, material selection, production process design, and equipment choice. The company’s biodegradable plastic technology was included in the 2005 National Torch Program by the Ministry of Science and Technology. If widely adopted, this technology could significantly reduce China's long-term dependence on oil-based plastics, marking a major milestone in the sustainable development of the country's plastic industry.
