Our company is a cement manufacturing enterprise with an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons, and we operate a new dry cement production line with a daily output of 2,500 tons. In our cement grinding process, around 20% of the material consists of slag, which significantly hampers both the efficiency and quality of the grinding system. To address this issue, we decided to implement technical upgrades by introducing new technologies, processes, and equipment, particularly focusing on improving the drying system.
After evaluating different drying systems, we found that vertical dryers offer several advantages over traditional rotary dryers. They are more cost-effective, consume less energy, have higher output capacity, and require less space. The compact design of vertical dryers makes them especially suitable for our site, where space is limited. As a result, we opted to use a vertical dryer for drying the slag.
Since April 2005, we conducted extensive research and comparisons with nearly 10 manufacturers of vertical dryers and their end-users. Among all the options, we were most impressed by the KBH series vertical dryers and KBF series high-temperature boiling furnaces produced by Jiangsu Yancheng Kebao Building Materials Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd. This company has a strong reputation and is recognized as a high-tech enterprise in Jiangsu Province. It holds multiple patents for its products, including the KBH high-efficiency vertical dryer, which is one of five high-tech products in the region. The company also boasts a large team of skilled engineers and has earned national recognition in the building materials industry.
We further verified the performance of their equipment through visits to users like Shanghai Haishu Building Materials Co., Ltd. These visits confirmed that the KBH vertical dryers and KBF boiling furnaces not only perform exceptionally well but also come with excellent after-sales support. Based on these findings, we signed a supply and service contract with Cobb for the KBH2O24 vertical dryer and the KBF6A high-temperature boiling furnace.
Within a week of signing the contract, Cobb provided a detailed design proposal, a process layout plan, and basic construction drawings. Construction began immediately, and the equipment was installed by early October. Due to other production constraints, commissioning started only in late November. After just one week of trial operation, the dryer achieved an output of over 30 tons per hour, with coal consumption below 12 kg per ton—fully meeting our expectations.
Throughout the installation and commissioning process, the professionalism and dedication of Cobb’s technical team left a lasting impression. From the start of the installation to the completion of the commissioning, their staff worked tirelessly without any days off. Their deep expertise in drying technology, combined with their patient and thorough approach to problem-solving, made the entire process smooth and efficient. Every step, from the dryer to the boiling furnace, was carefully inspected and rechecked, which demonstrated their commitment to quality.
Thanks to the implementation of the KBH vertical dryers and KBF high-temperature boilers from Cobb, we successfully resolved the long-standing issue of moisture in the cement raw materials. This technological upgrade significantly improved our production efficiency and profitability. It was a true testament to the value of investing in high-quality, high-tech solutions.
