A few days ago, the reporter had an exclusive interview with Dong Haiyang, the Deputy General Manager of FAW Toyota Sales Co., Ltd., to get an update on the progress of Toyota's second plant in Tianjin. According to the latest information, construction at the second Toyota factory located in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone is now in full swing, with a tight schedule set for completion. The first phase of the project is expected to be finished by November this year. The initial construction area will cover 150,000 square meters, and the production line for the Crown limousine is scheduled to go live in February next year, with the vehicle set to hit the market in March.
The Crown being manufactured in Tianjin will be the 12th generation model, available in both 2.5L and 3.0L engine options. This luxury sedan has already been on sale in Japan since last year, with prices ranging from approximately 230,000 to 370,000 RMB. The introduction of the new model in China is expected to strengthen Toyota's position in the premium segment and offer consumers a high-quality, locally produced option. With the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Tianjin, Toyota is further solidifying its long-term strategy in the Chinese market.
