A few days ago, the reporter had an exclusive interview with Dong Haiyang, the Deputy General Manager of FAW Toyota Sales Co., Ltd., to get an update on the progress of Toyota's second plant in Tianjin. According to the latest information, construction at the second factory, located in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, is now in full swing and entering a critical phase. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by November this year. The initial construction area will cover 150,000 square meters, and the production line for the Crown limousine is scheduled to start in February next year, with the model set to hit the market in March.
The Crown being manufactured in Tianjin is the 12th generation model, available in both 2.5L and 3.0L engine options. Since last year, this vehicle has already been sold in Japan, with prices ranging from approximately 230,000 to 370,000 RMB. This new production facility in Tianjin marks a significant step forward for Toyota in expanding its manufacturing capabilities in China, reflecting the company's continued confidence in the Chinese market and its long-term strategic vision.
The introduction of the Crown in Tianjin not only strengthens Toyota's product portfolio but also highlights the brand's commitment to offering premium vehicles tailored to local preferences. With the second plant coming online, Toyota is well-positioned to meet growing demand and maintain its competitive edge in the Chinese automotive industry.
