Synthetic ammonia and urea plants both run continuously and safely for 350 days.

As of December 15, Yuntianhua Group's chemical fertilizer production base—Yunnan Yuntianhua Co., Ltd.—has achieved a remarkable milestone. Both the ammonia and urea plants have been operating safely and efficiently for 350 consecutive days. This accomplishment not only surpasses their previous records of 312 days each but also breaks the national record of 314 days and sets a new international benchmark of 345 days for continuous operation in similar facilities. On the same day, the company held a special event at the site to celebrate this world record. It is worth noting that the synthetic ammonia and urea production units generate over 4 million yuan in daily output value. As a result, Yuntianhua has long prioritized improving equipment utilization and achieving stable, long-term operations. To date, the ammonia plant has completed its 38th "Hundred Days Red" (a term used to denote 100 days of safe and uninterrupted operation), while the urea plant has reached its 20th such milestone. Since both units were started on January 1 this year, they have operated continuously for 350 days, setting a global record for similar facilities. Through three major technological upgrades, especially the third large-scale transformation in 2002, the annual production capacity of the ammonia and urea plants was significantly increased—from 300,000 tons and 480,000 tons respectively to 500,000 tons and 760,000 tons. By December 15, the two plants had produced more than 500,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and nearly 800,000 tons of urea, exceeding their original design capacities and setting new company records. In 2004, Yuntianhua ranked first among listed companies in the national fertilizer industry in terms of total profit, net profit, earnings per share, return on net assets, and net profit margin. Li Yongwu, president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, who attended the event, emphasized that long-term safe operation of production equipment is essential for maximizing output and profits in large chemical fertilizer companies. Yuntianhua’s successful implementation of energy-saving and efficiency-enhancing technology upgrades, along with the adoption and improvement of advanced domestic and foreign technologies, has kept its nearly 30-year-old ammonia and urea facilities in excellent operational condition. It now stands as the most efficient among the 13 large-scale fertilizer plants introduced in China in 1974. The success of Yuntianhua Group serves as a valuable reference for the development of China’s petroleum and chemical industries, particularly in the fertilizer sector.
