Here's a message from Dave Weaver:

10/16/17 NORTH AURORA, IL – Heavy extrication crash involving a semi-trailer with two vehicles underneath and multiple people trapped. Double medevac was requested at Orchard Road and I-88. Video captured by Dave Weaver.

Some key details from the Chicago Tribune:

Two men lost their lives and three others were rushed to hospitals after a collision between two cars and a semi-trailer occurred Monday at the Orchard Road overpass on I-88 in Kane County.

Authorities are currently investigating whether the crash is connected to two separate shooting incidents that took place in Aurora between 11 a.m. and the time of the accident.

Local detectives from both the Kane County Sheriff’s Department and the Aurora Police Department have not ruled out the possibility that the shootings and the crash could be linked to gang-related activity. Notably, the colors of the vehicles involved in the crash matched those seen in the Aurora shootings.

The incident involved a Jaguar and a GMC Envoy traveling northbound on Orchard Road, reportedly at high speeds. Both vehicles struck a semi-trailer that was turning south onto Orchard Road after exiting from eastbound I-88.

The driver of the GMC, Christopher Shaw, 23, from North Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two passengers in the vehicle—both from Aurora—were airlifted to medical facilities. Devonte Bouchee, 24, who was in the front seat, later died in the afternoon. The backseat passenger, a 23-year-old man from Aurora, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The Jaguar driver, a 38-year-old man from Aurora, and the semi-truck driver, a 27-year-old from Burbank, were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Both the sheriff’s office and the police are looking into two separate reports of vehicle chases and gunfire in the Aurora area prior to the crash. The first shooting was reported at 11:04 a.m., with no property damaged. The second incident, at 11:45 a.m. near Nantucket Road and Durham Drive, resulted in gunfire damage to two homes.

If you have any information about the shootings, authorities are urging residents to contact Kane County investigators at 630-444-1103, Aurora Police at 630-256-5500, or the Aurora Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
