At 01:47 AM, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire on the 300 block of Goshawk Lane in unincorporated Deerfield. As they were en route, the RED Center (Regional Emergency Dispatch Center) alerted crews that police officers had already arrived on scene and confirmed the fire was fully involved. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story, multi-unit townhome complex engulfed in heavy flames from the roof.
They immediately deployed a hose line for fire suppression and began confirming that all occupants had safely evacuated. Fortunately, the fire remained contained to the unit of origin, preventing further spread. The exposure buildings were checked for signs of fire extension, and while some minor damage was noted, the situation was under control.
A Mutual Aid Box alarm was activated to bring in additional personnel and fire investigators to determine the cause and assess the damage. Authorities are currently working to identify the exact cause of the fire and estimate any financial losses. The incident highlights the importance of quick response and coordinated efforts between local fire departments.
The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD was assisted by firefighters from Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Wheeling, Northbrook, Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights, Highland Park, Countryside, Glencoe, and Northfield, along with support from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the RED Center. These collaborative efforts played a key role in containing the fire and ensuring public safety.
