Here's a firsthand account from Dave Weaver:

On October 16, 2017, in North Aurora, Illinois, a serious crash occurred when two vehicles collided with a semi-trailer at the Orchard Road and I-88 overpass. The incident involved entrapment of individuals and a double medical evacuation. The video was captured by Dave Weaver.

According to a report from ChicagoTribune.com:

Two men lost their lives and three others were hospitalized after two cars crashed into a semi-truck Monday at the Orchard Road overpass on I-88 in Kane County. Authorities are currently investigating whether the crash is connected to two separate shootings in Aurora that took place between 11 a.m. and the time of the collision.

Local detectives from the Kane County Sheriff’s Department and the Aurora Police Department are considering the possibility that both incidents could be linked to gang-related activity. Notably, the colors of the vehicles involved in the crash matched those seen in the earlier Aurora shootings.

The two vehicles, a Jaguar and a GMC Envoy, were traveling northbound on Orchard Road at high speeds when they struck a semi-truck that had just turned south onto the road from eastbound I-88. The GMC driver, Christopher Shaw, 23, from North Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers, one in the front seat and one in the back, were taken to hospitals by air. The front-seat passenger, Devonte Bouchee, 24, from Aurora, later died in the afternoon, while the back-seat passenger, a 23-year-old man from Aurora, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The Jaguar driver, a 38-year-old man from Aurora, and the semi-truck driver, a 27-year-old man from Burbank, were both taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Authorities are also looking into two separate vehicle-related incidents involving gunfire in the Aurora area before the crash. The first shooting was reported at 11:04 a.m., with no property damage reported. The second occurred at 11:45 a.m. near Nantucket Road and Durham Drive, causing damage to two homes.

If you have any information about these incidents, authorities are urging residents to contact the Kane County Sheriff’s Office at 630-444-1103 or the Aurora Police Department at 630-256-5500. You can also reach out to Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
