Box Alarm in Park Ridge 9-25-12

This is what Steve Redick just shared: Around 100 block of N Wisner on Tuesday evening. Workers on the roof reported the fire. When I got there, everyone was already evacuating, and it seemed like all the searches were done. The flames were coming out from the back attic area. Due to the position of the sun and access issues, it was tough to get a clear shot. They used the tower ladder and some external hoses, making sure nearby buildings were protected. I managed to spot the North Maine rebuild, and it looked like Des Plaines’ Engine 1 (possibly a spare) was working on a big water supply line to Park Ridge. It didn’t take long for them to bring it under control, but the damage was significant—most of the roof was burnt through. I’ve uploaded the video here. [Attached are multiple photos taken by Steve Redick] Photo 1: This shows the house fire on Wisner in Park Ridge on September 25, 2012. You can clearly see the smoke billowing out from the rear of the building. Photo 2: Here’s another angle, focusing on Engine 35 at the scene. The firefighters are working hard to contain the blaze. Photo 3: A view of Des Plaines’ fire engine at the scene, with Engine 1 working on the water supply. Photo 4: This image highlights the intensity of the fire, with flames reaching high into the sky. Photo 5: Another shot capturing the firefighters' efforts to save the structure. Photo 6: A wider view showing the scale of the operation, with multiple fire trucks and emergency personnel on site. Photo 7: In this final image, you can see the aftermath, with firefighters still on the scene ensuring everything is under control. It was quite an intense situation, but the firefighters did an amazing job getting it handled quickly despite the challenges.
