The Chicago Tribune recently reported that two three-story apartment buildings went up in flames late Friday night in Maywood, displacing between 20 and 25 people. The fire, which was classified as a 3-11 alarm situation, occurred on the 1000 block of 11th Avenue. Firefighters from a dozen neighboring communities were called in to help battle the blaze, which raged for nearly two hours. According to Maywood Fire Chief John Cadigan, the initial alarm was raised around 9:30 p.m., and investigators were still on the scene well past midnight on Saturday. At this point, the exact cause of the fire remains unclear. The full story is available [here](#). Steve Redick arrived at the scene shortly after the fire had been extinguished.
