Sichuan's annual supply and demand gap is as high as more than 4 billion cubic meters, and the supply and demand gap for natural gas in Sichuan chemical industry is 1.6 billion cubic meters. In order to alleviate this contradiction, in April last year, Central Asian natural gas began to enter Sichuan along the Zhongwu line. The construction of the gas pipeline from Zhongwei to the south will greatly reduce the distance between Central Asia and Sichuan. The pipeline has successfully docked with natural gas pipelines in Sichuan. After the short-term commissioning period, the Central Asian natural gas is expected to be quickly delivered to Sichuan chemical companies and other users, alleviating the plight of Sichuan chemical companies unable to produce at full capacity due to insufficient natural gas supply.
According to the person in charge of the Basic Industry Division of the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Ningxia Zhongwei-Sichuan natural gas pipeline north of Zhongwei City in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and south to Sichuan South County has a total length of more than 900 kilometers and is attached to the north section of Zhongwei-Guiyang Link. The Zhongwei-Guiyang tie line is an important branch line of China's West-East Gas Pipeline Project, with an annual pipeline transmission capacity of 15 billion cubic meters.
In another development, CNPC will speed up the construction of oil and gas pipelines in Sichuan, improve the distribution of pipelines in Sichuan, build an oil and gas storage and transportation system for energy supply centers in Southwest China, and build a three-horizontal, three-longitudinal-three-ring backbone gas transmission network system, gradually forming a coverage system for Sichuan. During the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan†period, PetroChina planned to build an oil and gas pipeline in Sichuan with a total length of approximately 3,600 kilometers.
