It’s been over a year since the world was turned upside down by the global spread of COVID-19. No one could have predicted just how deeply it would reshape every aspect of our lives. While safety protocols and virtual communication are still part of daily life, the initial fear and uncertainty have evolved into resilience, adaptation, and hope—especially among MACC members like Nationwide Coils.

How did your business cope during the early days of the pandemic?

As an essential business under FDA guidelines, we were able to continue serving our customers, many of whom were also classified as essential. Hospitals, in particular, relied on us for critical climate control solutions during those early months.

Although business slowed compared to 2019, we never had to shut down. We maintained full production and kept all employees working throughout the crisis. We did make some adjustments, such as reducing non-essential spending and employee benefits, but we were committed to keeping our team intact.

Did any of your employees test positive for COVID-19, and how did you manage it?

There were a few confirmed cases among our staff, and those individuals followed CDC quarantine guidelines. Fortunately, these cases didn’t disrupt our operations, and we remained strong as a team through the entire process.

When did business start to improve, and what changes did you see?

We didn’t see a major turnaround until early 2021, when things remained steady but not significantly better than before. However, the severe winter storm that hit Texas and other parts of the central U.S. in mid-February created a surge in demand, which helped boost our activity.

With almost 20 years in business, we’ve learned to expect the unexpected. As more people get vaccinated and restrictions ease, we’re cautiously optimistic that we're nearing the end of this challenging chapter.

What does the future look like for your company?

The outlook is promising for Nationwide Coils. We've taken on several larger contracts, expanded our team, and are excited to move our New York headquarters to a bigger, more spacious location. We're looking forward to continued growth and success in the coming year.
