River Forest garage fire 3-19-12

I just witnessed an interesting fire incident involving a garage in River Forest. It happened around 9:45 AM today, and I followed the responding fire companies from their stations. The fire broke out in a one-story wooden frame garage that measured 22 by 20 feet. Initially, there was a small fire in the ceiling area which was quickly extinguished using a single 1.75” hose line. The overhaul process was swift, and several fire departments were on the scene including RFOR E222, T221, ELPK E947, FOPK E402, OKPK T631 and C620, along with various chiefs from both River Forest and Elmwood Park. For those who might not know, River Forest T221 used to be Oak Park's T631, and it underwent modifications to accommodate extra hose storage, allowing them to forward lay a supply line to E222. This first set of photos shows the garage before the hose line was charged and the garage doors were opened. [Attached Image: "FOPK_5150-DMc" – Caption: "The garage as the first companies arrived. [Attached Image: "FOPK_5162-DMc" – Caption: "River Forest Truck 221 forward lay. [Attached Image: "FOPK_5163-DMc" – Caption: "Garage opened showing construction materials. [Attached Image: "ELPK_E947-5166-DMc" – Caption: "Elmwood Park Engine 947. [Attached Image: "RFOR_T-5173-DMc" – Caption: "River Forest Truck 221 (X-Oak Park truck) modified to carry 4" hose. [Attached Image: "FOPK_5187-DMc" – Caption: "River Forest Engine 222 is a 2002 Darley with a Spartan Gladiator chassis and enclosed pump panel. [Attached Image: "FOPK_E402-5182-DMc" – Caption: "Forest Park Engine 402 is a 2008 HME Ahrens Fox.
