According to the ITIS statistics of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the output value of the mold industry in the Taiwanese mold industry decreased by 3.7% in the fourth quarter of 2009 compared with the same period of 2008, but continued the trend of recovery in the previous two quarters. The growth rate in the third quarter was 16%, reaching NT$11.58 billion. The annual output value was approximately NT$38.76 billion, and the annual decline was 19.6%. With the continued launch of stimulus policies and global economic recovery in the mainland, Taiwan's mold output value rose to 48 billion yuan in 2010, a 23.8% increase over 2009.

In international trade, in the first quarter of 2010, the export value of Taiwan’s molds was NT$4.58 billion, the import value was NT$1.05 billion, the trade surplus was NT$3.53 billion, and both export value and import value were comparable to those of the same period last year. In the growth situation, the export value grew by 13.4% over the same period, while the import value grew by 11.6%. As for the trade partners, as the U.S. economic environment gradually improved, Taiwan's exports to the U.S. mold grew by nearly one time compared with the same period last year.

In recent years, Taiwan’s import of plastic molds from the mainland has increased year by year, compared to about NT$1.04 billion in plastic molds imported from the mainland in 2005, accounting for only about one-third of Taiwan’s total import value of plastic molds. In 2009, plastic molds imported from the mainland were imported. It has reached 1.77 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 3/4 of the import value of plastic molds in Taiwan. Analyst Luo Baihui, head of the International Die and Hardware Plastics Industry Suppliers Association, believes that this is mainly due to the influence of the layout of large-scale components manufacturers of steam locomotives. The operator's business model is to take orders in Taiwan, through the mainland subsidiaries to make rough embryos, and then transport them back to Taiwan for further processing, followed by heat treatment and surface treatment, and then re-export. This makes the cross-strait division of labor situation very clear. Since the average import tax rate for Taiwan's plastic molds is only 1.3%, and manufacturers export plastic molds to Taiwan on the mainland, they still enjoy 14% of China's export tax rebates, making this division of labor increasingly obvious. With the signing of ECFA across the Strait, it can be expected that This situation will intensify.

In a comprehensive view, China continues to extend its financial subsidy policies such as “going to the countryside” and “old-for-new” for home appliances and automobiles. It is expected that the procurement of Taiwan will continue to increase, and domestic mold makers will also benefit directly or indirectly. It is expected that the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" for Taiwan's mold industry in China will have the opportunity to continue its recovery.
