WABCO unveiled the latest control technology at Shanghai Auto Show

On April 20th, 2013 in Shanghai, China, the world's leading commercial vehicle technology leader and first-tier supplier WABCO automotive control system debuted at the 15th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition 2013, to trucks, buses, Trailer manufacturers fully demonstrate their leading technologies and products in automotive safety, efficiency and environmental sustainability.

At this auto show, WABCO will focus on high-end technologies including commercial vehicle braking, stabilization, suspension and transmission control systems, and innovative car vacuum pumps.

Dr. Liu Liang, President of WABCO Asia Pacific, stated: "At the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show, our leading technology will make WABCO a unique benchmark for China and even Asia as a whole. The company will continue to gain in-depth understanding of the market and its strength. The combination of technological capabilities and local applications creates outstanding value for customers. WABCO will help automotive manufacturers in domestic and international markets through more than 1,500 local employees, a product development center and four world-class factories in China. Success."

At the auto show, WABCO will highlight its latest two breakthrough technologies this year – WABCO's Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system technology and WABCO's first patented mono-piston air disc brake series Products MAXXTM22 and PANTM22.

WABCO's adaptive cruise control (ACC) system technology can improve vehicle safety and driving efficiency by automatically adjusting vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. In the running state, once the distance between the driving vehicle and the preceding vehicle is less than the safe distance, the system will issue sound and visual warnings, and control the engine, and if necessary, partially brake. As early as 2011, WABCO took the lead in adopting ACC technology on commercial vehicles in the Chinese market.

The WABCO MAXXTM22 Air Disc Brake is the lightest, best performing single-piston air disc brake in the range of heavy-duty trucks and passenger cars. This product not only improves the vehicle's fuel efficiency, increases the payload, but also reduces maintenance costs. WABCO also demonstrated the PANTM22 air disc brake series. The compact design and patented single piston technology of this series achieved superior braking performance in its class and significantly reduced the weight of various commercial models. The high customer satisfaction rate in the world also confirms the excellent road performance of this series of products.

Other vehicle safety technologies displayed by WABCO at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show include an advanced emergency braking system, OnGuardPLUSTM, which can warn and brake the driver in an emergency approaching a crash. It is used in the lanes of trucks and buses. Deviation warning system OnLaneTM, and WABCO's breakthrough ESCsmartTM, the industry-leading electronic stability control (ESC) technology, which can be applied to all braking platforms to adapt to changes in driving and load conditions, thereby reducing time-to-market Help automakers save time and labor costs.

In order to meet manufacturers' and operators' increasing demand for more efficient and environmentally friendly commercial vehicles, WABCO also demonstrated other breakthrough technologies at this show. Including its award-winning OptiDriveTM automatic mechanical transmission control system, the system combines comfortable automatic transmission with highly efficient manual transmission, freeing the driver from the tedious operation of manual transmission while improving fuel efficiency; The e-compTM electric drive air compressor technology for hybrid system vehicle design can achieve a 35% fuel saving rate compared to conventional power driven cars.

For the Chinese market, the mainstream diesel engine IV aftertreatment technology, WABCO has also introduced selective catalytic reduction (SCR) valve products. This innovative emission reduction product has improved the efficiency of the SCR system of the vehicle by adjusting the flow of coolant, reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides and better adapting to the latest regulatory requirements in China. It is reported that China's IV emissions standards for commercial vehicle pollutants will be formally effective in July 2013, the standard will promote more automotive platforms using SCR technology.

In addition to a series of advanced technologies exhibited for trucks, buses and trailers, WABCO will demonstrate its differentiated advantages in the aftermarket, helping fleets and vehicle operators reduce operating costs while optimizing vehicle road values. WABCO offers a strong portfolio of innovative aftermarket products and value-added services, including professional technical training, system diagnostics, original product sales, and a worldwide network of aftermarket customer-authorized service centers.
