In December, Norwegian ship propulsion specialist Stadt ushered in a double-happiness – the company and its loss-free electric ship propulsion system celebrated its 30th anniversary, while a new center of the company was put into use. 
It is reported that this 3,600 square meter ship center has an investment of 4 million euros and is located in the port of Gjerdsvika in the Midwest of Norway. According to Hallvard Slettevoll, founder and CEO of Stadt, "In 1985, when few people thought about using ship electric propulsion, we thought it would form a good market. By 1995, ten years later, The shipping industry is beginning to be interested in this new technology, and we have also become a pioneer in the development of compact water-cooled pulse width modulation drives, and since then, the technology has grown rapidly."
In 2001, the company sold all its products to ABB Switzerland. But soon Slettevol set up Stadt AS to bring the fifth generation of AC drive technology to market.
In 2016, the company will disclose new products as the new center is put into use.
