Lubrication System Components
An automatic lubrication system (ALS), also known as a centralized lubrication system, is designed to deliver precise amounts of lubricant to multiple points on a machine while it's in operation. These systems can be fully automated or require manual activation, but they are still classified as centralized lubrication systems. The system can be divided into two main categories—oil and grease systems—each with shared components.
Oil systems are typically used in stationary equipment like CNC machines, while grease systems are more common in mobile units such as trucks, mining, and construction machinery.
A standard system includes a controller/timer, pump with reservoir, supply lines, distributors/metering valves, and feed lines.
