Nearly 120,000 Lexus emergency recalls caused by engine oil leakage or fire

Recently, Toyota Motor Corporation announced that in order to solve the potential fuel leakage problem of the engine, the company decided to recall 115,000 Lexus vehicles in the United States. According to the "Securities Daily" reporter, after the Kobe fraud, pure imported Lexus has repeatedly experienced quality problems. Affected by this, in the new JDpower quality rankings, the Lexus rankings showed a significant decline.

In fact, just in early June, Lexus also recalled some of the imported Lexus RX due to the inability of the airbag to pop up properly. Both of these hidden dangers are extremely serious and fatal safety defects. In this regard, some insiders said that as a brand of craftsmanship, Lexus's short-term high-frequency recalls have obvious damage to its brand reputation.

The reporter learned that the recalled models include the 2006-2013 Lexus IS350, the 2010-2014 Lexus IS350C and the 2007-2011 Lexus GS350 and GS450h. The reason for the recall is that the engine fuel leak will cause a fire.

As a luxury car brand owned by Toyota Motor, Lexus's continuous safety alarm is accompanied by the brand's “floating” – Lexus released a new brand slogan “Experience Amazing” at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2017. "Fantastic"; in April of the same year, Lexus released a new Chinese version of the brand slogan during the Shanghai Auto Show - "Leading is not seen, exploring extraordinary."

It can be seen that Lexus intends to deepen its market in China through brand new slogans, in order to establish a deeper brand identity and emotional resonance with Chinese consumers. It is worth noting that the recalled vehicles are equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine. Toyota said, "In this engine, the diaphragm material of the fuel pulsation damper may become harder for a long time, resulting in fuel leakage." Fuel leakage increases the risk of vehicle fire. The Toyota spokesperson did not comment on whether the vehicle defect caused casualties.

Toyota also announced that it will replace the brand new fuel delivery pipe with a new fuel delivery pipe and retrofit a fuel injection component solution. It is expected that the owner will receive an official notice in August.

Looking back to the Chinese market, the reporter learned from the AQSIQ Defective Product Management Center that due to the same defect, Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will recall production from July 14, 2008 to November 8, 2014.
