The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District received a call around 1:30 PM today reporting a window washer stuck near the top of a seven-story building at 520 Lake-Cook Road. As soon as the call came in, multiple fire companies were dispatched to assist the local units. Upon arrival, the first responding team found the worker hanging upside down, approximately six feet below the roofline. The situation was quickly deemed critical, prompting an escalation of the alarm for specialized technical rescue crews.
Deerfield Truck 20 arrived swiftly and positioned itself close to the building. The crew then extended the aerial ladder to reach the victim. Firefighters climbed the ladder and successfully freed the worker from the rigging, bringing him to safety without any serious injuries.
Several witnesses captured images from different angles, but none show the worker before the rescue. We expect more photos to be shared soon.
More details are expected as additional photos and statements come in. Stay tuned for updates.
