The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District received a call around 1:30 PM today reporting a window washer stuck near the top of a seven-story building at 520 Lake-Cook Road. As soon as the call came in, multiple fire companies were dispatched to assist the local units. Upon arrival, the first responding team found the worker hanging upside down, approximately six feet below the roofline. Recognizing the severity of the situation, the incident was escalated to include specialized technical rescue crews.
Deerfield Truck 20 quickly positioned itself close to the building and extended its aerial ladder to reach the victim. Firefighters climbed up the ladder and carefully freed the worker from the rigging before safely lowering him to the ground. The entire operation took just minutes, showcasing the quick response and skill of the firefighters.
Several witnesses on the scene captured images of the event, though none show the worker before being rescued. We expect more photos to be released shortly as additional submissions come in.
Stay tuned for more updates as additional photos and details become available. The worker is reported to be in good condition following the rescue.
