Nano calcium carbonate market has excess potential

(Restricting the scale of the project and lagging behind the new project should be put on the agenda)
With the rapid development of China's plastic, rubber, paper, architectural coatings, and chemical industry, the demand for nano-calcium carbonate is increasing. It is expected that during the “11th Five-Year Plan” period, the demand for nano-calcium carbonate in China will maintain a growth rate of around 20%. By 2008, the demand will exceed 520,000 tons, and in 2010 it will reach 750,000 tons. However, from the current statistics of projects to be built, by 2010 China will be able to form 1.6 million to 1.8 million tons of production capacity, production is expected to exceed 1.3 million tons, the market may be oversupply situation.

Nano-calcium carbonate is a new type of ultra-fine inorganic material developed in the 1980s. Due to the ultra-thinning of the particles, changes in the crystal structure and surface electronic structure will produce effects that ordinary calcium carbonate does not have. It is used as a plastic filler, because the tensile strength, elongation at break and other properties of the product will not be greatly reduced due to the increase of the filling amount; filling a high proportion of the rubber in the rubber can make the surface of the product brilliant and rigid, Tear-resistance, bending-resistance, and crack-resistance are improved; adding to advanced inks and coatings can significantly improve gloss, transparency, and stability of the product; as a paper-making filler, it can greatly improve paper whiteness, astigmatism, and shading Sex, reduce the amount of pulp. In addition, nano-calcium carbonate is currently the most inexpensive nano-material, and the production process generally does not have "three wastes" emissions.

China's nano-calcium carbonate industry started late. In the 1990s, Guangping Chemical Co., Ltd. introduced Japanese technology to produce ultra-fine calcium carbonate of 80 to 100 nanometers, becoming the first nano-calcium carbonate production enterprise in China. In 2000, the ultra-gravity nano-calcium carbonate production technology led by Prof. Chen Jianfeng of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, reversed the long-term dependence of China's nano-calcium carbonate technology on foreign countries, and soon achieved industrial production. It has successively been in Guangping Chemical and Jiawei Chemical. In addition, more than 20 production lines have been built in enterprises such as Xincheng, Fuxin City, Mengxi Hi-tech, and Shandong Grand. Later, East China University of Technology's Kettle-type stirring and crystal control agent carbonization process successively established several production lines in Shanxi Orchid Science and Technology, Shanghai Huaming and other enterprises, so that the domestic production of nano-calcium carbonate rapidly increased from less than 100,000 tons in 2002 to In 2004, it was 230,700 tons, and in 2005 it jumped to 250,000 tons. In February 2006, the nano-calcium carbonate technology developed by Shandong Shengda Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., in cooperation with Tsinghua University's membrane-dispersed micro-structure reactor, was identified by an expert group, indicating that China's nano-calcium carbonate technology has entered the forefront of the world and ended at the same time. Foreign companies’ long-term monopoly on this technology.

In China, rubber industry is the largest user of nano-calcium carbonate, mainly used as a rubber reinforcing agent, accounting for about 40% of the sales volume of nano-calcium carbonate market; coating, construction industry is the second largest user of nano-calcium carbonate, the proportion of About 30%; plastic products and processing industry demand for nano-calcium carbonate ranked third, about 15%; ink, toothpaste and other daily-use chemical industry accounted for about 10%; paper industry accounted for 5%.

According to statistics, during the “10th Five-Year Plan” period, the average annual increase in demand for nano-calcium carbonate in China is 15%, and the annual import volume is about 100,000 tons. In 2005, domestic consumption of nano-calcium carbonate exceeded 300,000 tons, and imports were approximately 60,000 tons.

The strong demand and market potential of domestic nano-calcium carbonate have attracted many investors to expand production or launch new projects. According to statistics, Guangdong Enping Jiawei Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. began construction of the first nano calcium carbonate production line in China in April 1999. The pace of expansion has not stopped. Currently, the company has four production lines and produces nano calcium carbonate annually. 120,000 tons; Guangping Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd. has increased its initial capacity of 15,000 tons/year to 50,000 tons/year; Enping city government also plans to use the city's existing 150,000 tons/year in 5 years. The production capacity has doubled to 300,000 tons/year; Shandong Shengda Technology Company plans to start the second phase 400,000 tons/year project in 2007 after the first phase of Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, 100,000 tons/year production line is completed and put into production. By 2010, it will become an annual output. More than 100 million tons of the world's largest nano calcium carbonate production enterprises. In addition, the production lines in Ningxia Pingluo, Henan Yima, Guangxi Wuming and other places are also in full swing preparations, Guofeng Plastics and Lotus Branch and other enterprise groups also have launched large-scale ultra-fine calcium carbonate production line plans.

If these proposed projects and projects under construction are completed and put into production, a rough estimate will be made. By 2010, China will have a production capacity of 1.6 million to 1.8 million tons of nano-calcium carbonate, and the output is expected to exceed 1.3 million tons, which will completely change the domestic market for nano-calcium carbonate in short supply. , high-end products rely on imports.

Relevant experts pointed out that nano-calcium carbonate is a sunrise industry with high technological content and high added value. Vigorous development can not only make rich limestone resources into economic advantages, but also improve related industries such as plastics, rubber, paint, daily chemicals, and papermaking. The product quality and competitiveness promote the structural adjustment and product upgrading of these industries. At the same time, it also opens up a broader space for the development of the calcium carbonate industry. However, at present, China's nano calcium carbonate industry should pay attention to the following work: First, do a good job planning. When reviewing project plans, localities should limit the number of projects that are small (less than 10,000 tons) and backward in technology (water consumption and power consumption, product size greater than 100 nanometers); second, they must increase efforts to transform and integrate small businesses and old ones. Process production line, the formation of large-scale nano-calcium carbonate enterprise groups, training brand-name products, enhance the product's international competitiveness; Third, we must do a good job in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain and the development of nano-calcium carbonate new consumer areas, in order to avoid excessive expansion of production capacity Lead to oversupply in the market.
